The hunting season thus far has been very weak in region #7 in NYS. I have talked to many hunters and they are not seeing the deer this year. I have heard very little shooting since the season opened except for opening day. Thanksgiving day usually has as much shooting as the season opener but not this year. I did a drive around to see where and how many vehicles were parked in the normal areas of hunting and found only 2 vehicles. I think the deer population is down considerably and the hunters are either not hunting or have gone to better areas. I personally have seen only one deer all season.
