These books contain an unbelievable amount of knowledge and perhaps the secret to harvesting the buck of your lifetime.

If you take the time to read these hunting books and really learn the hunting tactics and techniques described, I guarantee that you will become a better deer hunter.

1. Precision Bowhunting By John And Chris Eberhart

Precision Bowhunting

Precision Bowhunting by John and Chris Eberhart  shows us a year round approach to taking mature whitetails. Hunting mature bucks doesn't end when the season ends. If you aren't hunting, you are preparing to hunt. One of my favorite Eberhart Books! Don't Miss This One!

2. Mapping Trophy Bucks By Brad Herndon

Mapping Trophy Bucks

Mapping Trophy Bucks by Brad Herndon is a must have hunting book in any hunter's collection. Learn how to read topographic maps to find pinch points and other features that funnel deer before ever stepping foot on a piece of hunting property. It is a must-have for long range scouting. If you hunt deer, let Mapping Trophy Bucks lead you right to where the big boys hide. This book helped me more than any other when hunting whitetail deer in the midwest!

3. Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails By John And Chris Eberhart

Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails

Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails by John and Chris Eberhart covers in detail how to take mature bucks in areas with heavy hunting pressure. This book is the ultimate guide for hunting heavily pressured public land and coming out with big bucks. If you hunt public land whitetails, you need to read this book.

4. Strategies For Whitetails By Charles Alsheimer

Strategies for Whitetails

Strategies For Whitetails was written by Charles Alsheimer, the author of many great hunting books and one of my favorite human beings on the planet, God rest his soul. Charles was my idol and a man whose time was cut way too short. This book teaches not only how to kill big mature bucks, but also how to cultivate land in order to produce a well balanced trophy herd of deer. It is also full of the author's award winning photography.

5. Whitetail Addicts Manual By T.R. Michaels

Whitetail Addicts Manual

The Whitetail Addicts Manual by T.R. Michaels contains proven methods for hunting trophy whitetail deer. T.R. Michaels is another one of the authors that I have looked up to my whole life. This book goes into great detail about whitetail deer biology and behavior and then walks you through predicting deer activity and reading whitetail sign. From there you will learn how to avoid detection, how to attract deer and finally, how to successfully hunt them. Trophy whitetails require special hunting strategies and you will learn them here!

6. Big Bucks The Benoit Way By Bryce M. Towsley

Big Bucks The Benoit Way

Big Bucks The Benoit Way by Bryce M. Towsley has influence more deer hunters in the big woods than you can possibly imagine. America's first family of whitetail hunting, the Benoit brothers, got that name using their unique tracking methods to successfully harvest trophy bucks on foot, in the deep woods of Canada and New England. The book is more than just a how-to of tracking methods, it is a rare look into a hunting family and the long standing traditions of our sport. One of my favorite books to enjoy in front of the fire after a long day in the whitetail woods. A must have for any collection.

7. RX For Deer Hunting Success By Peter Fiduccia

Rx for Deer Hunting Success

RX For Deer Hunting Success by Peter Fiduccia. Peter Fiduccia is known as the deer doctor and he is one of my favorite hunting authors. He has written many books on deer and behavior, and in my opinion, this is one of his best. It contains innovative tips and new scientific research that will make you a better deer hunter. Fiduccia shares his five decades of experience hunting deer on his land in upstate New York in a way that makes for an easy, enjoyable read.

8. Whitetail Savvy By Dr. Leonard Lee Rue III

Whitetail Savvy deer hunting book

Whitetail Savvy: New Research and Observations about the Deer, America's Most Popular Big-Game Animal by Dr. Leonard Lee Rue III is one of the best books available about whitetail deer behavior and facts about the whitetail. Dr. Leonard Lee Rue III is a man that has spent his entire life studying the whitetail deer. This book contains never before published information on the habits and details of deer that the whitetail hunter can use to his advantage. It deserves a place on your bookshelf as does another one of his works: The Deer Hunter's Encyclopedia

9. Bowhunting Whitetails The Eberhart Way John And Chris Eberhart

Bowhunting Whitetails The Eberhart Way

Bowhunting Whitetails The Eberhart Way by John And Chris Eberhart is about successfully hunting whitetails on pressured areas in places like Michigan, Pennsylvania, New England, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin. It is a great book to learn about hunting public land whitetails and how to find big bucks when others can't. My favorite parts of this book was learning about hunting on small suburban plots of private land. I cut my teeth hunting on small backyard pieces in Connecticut. If you hunt in urban areas or on crowded public land, you have to read this book.

10. Whitetail Tactics By Peter Fiduccia

Whitetail Tactics deer hunting book

Whitetail Tactics: Cutting Edge Strategies That Work is another one of my favorites by Peter Fiduccia. Peter is passionate about hunting deer and that comes through in his no-nonsense way of communicating strategies, hunting techniques and tips for hunting deer in pressured areas. This one has been in my library for years and I find myself going back to it again and again. You should definitely add this book to your library.
