TIDEWE Hunting Blind

Tidewe Hunting blind

Hunters have been using ground blinds for centuries to stay hidden while hunting deer and other game.

They used to consist of holes dug in the ground and covered with piles of branches and boughs by Native Americans (1), to create a hiding place, but they have evolved into the tent-like structures that we see today.

Best Hunting Blinds: Reviews And Recommendations

Best Overall: Primos Double Bull SurroundView Double Wide

Primos SurroundView Double Wide Ground Blind

We have a lot of bow hunters on staff here at DeerHuntingGuide.net and when we asked them; What are your favorite ground blinds for bowhunting?

The overwhelming answer was the Primos Double Bull SurroundView Double Wide.

It is more expensive than some of the other blinds out there, but we have found that it will outlast them all, and we leave these hunting blinds set up out in the elements all season long.

Whether you are bowhunting with a compound bow or a crossbow, you need room to maneuver without bumping into the sides or top of your hunting blind.

The Double Wide has a spacious interior, with a 60 inch by 60 inch footprint and a 70 inch height, giving you more room to move around inside without having to worry about hitting the hunting blind and scaring the deer or turkeys.

The large and dark interior also allows you to sit towards the back of the hunting blind, which makes it almost impossible for game to see your movements inside.

With so much room inside, it is the best blind for bowhunting with your kid or a cameraman to film your hunt.

The 300 degree see through view and the 180 degree full front shooting window gives you a huge shooting width and ensures that you will always have a perfect shot while bowhunting and the zipperless entry and exit allows you to slip into the blind undetected, even if deer are nearby.

Primos Zipperless Rear Door

Add in the durability and legendary double bull materials and it is easy to see why it is one of the best hunting blinds available today.

Features:

  • Easy Pack-N-Go Bag with backpack straps makes transporting the blind very easy.
  • Power Hub Framework makes setup quick and easy by perfectly aligning the rods and stretching the fabric tight every time.
  • Huge, zipperless rear door makes entering and exiting the hunting blind quiet and easy, even with all your hunting gear and a backpack on.
  • Truth Camo pattern with shadows and depth of field for better concealment and blending into the surroundings.
  • Silent slide closure full front shooting window for unobstructed shooting while bowhunting.
  • Weather resistant for use in all conditions.
  • Weighs just 27 pounds.

What We Like

  • We love the easy, quick set up from the hub style pop up blind.
  • We like the large, roomy interior. It is more than enough room for two hunters, folding chairs and gear.
  • We ove that you can see through the blind and have a 300 degree view, so that you can see deer or turkeys coming from any direction
  • The large, silent door makes getting in and out of the hunting blind easy and quiet.
  • The durable construction will last longer than any other hunting blind out there.
  • The Primos Limited Lifetime Warranty - If your hunting blind breaks or malfunctions, they will fix it or replace it for the life of the blind.

What We Don't Like

  • The price. It is expensive.
  • While set up is easy, it can be difficult for one person to take it down and get it back in the storage bag.

Primos is known in the hunting community for high quality blinds and as you can see the SurroundView Double Wide is the best blind for bowhunting, and we would rate it as the best 2 person blind as well.

This blind is ideal for teaching bow hunting for beginners, where a beginner and mentor could hunt together in the same blind.

Primos Double Bull Surround View Max

The Surround View Max is our top pick for the best blind for deer hunting. It was a close runner up for the best for bowhunting, however some of our pro staff found that the shooting window was just a little too low for comfortably shooting their bow. It is, however, perfect for shooting a gun or crossbow.

The unique fabric with camo print that allows you to see 180 degrees through the fabric, yet the deer cannot see you inside is one of the cool things that makes this the best hunting blind.

You can see the deer coming from any direction. No more deer sneaking into range and surprising you when you are not ready for a perfect shot.

It is huge inside with a 56 inch by 56 inch floor space and a 67 inch height, giving you enough space for two hunters and hunting equipment.

The 180 degree front window gives you much more shooting width than most other blinds.

The double wide silent open door in the back provides easy access for getting you and all of your hunting equipment in and out a breeze.

Primos Surround View Back Door

Primos has added a sun visor to the Surround View that blocks the sun in the early morning and late afternoon, when the deer are most active.

That is one of the things that we love about Primos is that they are always listening to their customers and coming up with solutions to the problems that they encounter. They are constantly improving their products and striving to make the best blinds available.

They also stand behind their products with their Lifetime Warranty.

Features:

  • One way, see through walls with built in blackout curtains and one movable blackout wall to eliminate shadows. You can see out, but the deer can’t see in.
  • New and improved ¾ zip bag with backpack straps makes it easy to get the blind back in the bag for transport.
  • Power Hub Framework requires less force to straighten the rods and tighten the one way see through fabric on the pop up blind.
  • Double wide, silent open rear door measures 29 inches wide by 48.5 inches high, making it easy to get into and out of the hunting blind quickly and silently with all your hunting gear.
  • Primos’ Exclusive Truth Camo designed specifically for concealment in all ground level hunting situations.
  • New sun visor added to the front of the blind to provide shade inside the dark interior to help with concealment.
  • Brush loops on the outside for fastening branches and boughs for camouflage.
  • Water resistant.
  • Weighs just 26 pounds including the carry bag.

What We Like

  • Let’s face it, the fact that you can see through the walls and the deer cannot see you inside is very cool.
  • The inside is huge. Plenty of room for 2 or more hunters and gear.
  • The double wide, zipperless door makes getting in and out of the blind easy and quiet.
  • The sun visor was a needed addition and makes a huge difference for staying concealed inside.
  • Silent windows are adjustable to your desired width and make opening and closing noiseless.
  • The improved ¾ zip transport bag is a game changer. No more trying to stuff the blind into a bag that is too small.
  • The Primos Limited Lifetime Warranty - If your blind breaks or malfunctions, they will fix it or replace it for the life of the blind.

What We Don't Like

  • It is expensive.
  • The air flows right through it, so it gets colder than other blinds.
  • It is smaller than our top pick

Check out this video showing the view from inside and outside the Surround View with its one way see through walls.

It is easy to see why the Surround View is the best blind for deer hunting and a close runner up for best blind for bowhunting.

Best Budget: TIDEWE Hunting Blind

TIDEWE Hunting Blind

We recommend buying direct from TIDEWE.

We were looking for a high quality blind that was offered at a budget price and we came across the TIDEWE hunting blind.

We have used and reviewed other TIDEWE products and we were very pleased with the quality given the relatively low price, so we were very excited to try out the TIDEWE hunting blind.

The first thing we noticed when we opened the box was the durable carrying case with a drawstring top and shoulder strap.

The only downside to the case is that it is quite noisy, but that shouldn’t really matter for hunting, because you are going to set up your blind long before the season starts and leave it out all season.

When we removed the blind from the carrying case, we were happy to find that the blind material was much heavier and much quieter than the carrying case material.

The blind was super easy to set up and the hub system worked perfectly.

The door was a little small and could be difficult for bigger guys, although one of our big guys on staff uses this blind and he stakes the front corners down and then just lifts the rear of the blind to get in.

The blind is plenty big enough for two people and their gear, with a 58” x 58” footprint and a 66” center height.

View from inside the see through ground blind

The one way, see through fabric is very cool. We actually got in and out of the blind numerous times to try and see into the blind from the outside, and you really can’t.

This is an awesome blind for bowhunting at an awesome price.

Features:

  • 3 full panels of see through fabric allows a 270 degree view while remaining invisible inside
  • Easy Set-up and takedown hub system design
  • Noise free sliding windows
  • Brush in loops for attaching limbs and branches for concealment
  • Weatherproof design with reinforced corners

What We Like

  • We love the price. You can buy 2 or 3 of these for the price of some blinds out there.
  • It is very easy to set up and take down. Also easy to get back in the carry bag.
  • The see through panels are very cool, but you still need the windows down to shoot.
  • You can really conceal this blind well by adding branches to the brush in loops
  • The windows are really quiet to open and close.
  • The windows are a good height for bowhunting with compound bow or crossbow.
  • The blind is super lightweight, which makes it very easy to carry long distances.

What We Don't Like

  • While the fabric is see through, it gets difficult to see clearly in low light conditions.
  • The rear access door could be bigger.

Here's a great video showing the TIDEWE blind in use for turkey hunting.

Look, we are not going to sugar coat it, this blind is not as high quality as the Primos blinds, but it is also one third the cost.

If you are looking for a budget hunting blind that won’t break the bank, we recommend you check out the TIDEWE hunting blind.

We also use and recommend their ground blind swivel chair and you can see our review by clicking the link.

Best For Archery: Rig'Em Right HydeOut XL

Rig'Em Right HydeOut XL Ground Blind

Looking for a hunting blind with more room and plenty of windows for all archery shot angles?

Our staff of experts have used just about every blind on the market while hunting for deer and turkeys, we have not seen a better built blind than this one.

The heavy duty construction and the thought that went into designing this hunting blind is stunning.

It’s made by RIG'EM RIGHT® OUTDOORS, an American company from Hyde County North Carolina.

The HydeOut XL is the biggest blind that we have used, with a footprint measuring 65” x 65” and a center height of 72”. Finally, a big hunting blind with plenty of room to maneuver with your archery gear.

A blind that big and heavy duty does come at a price and that price is its weight, coming in at 26 pounds.

It does come in a camo carry bag that has backpack straps, making it easier to transport.

Our favorite feature is the Gore Optifade camo on the inside and outside. It looks much more natural when set up than looking at black holes in the camo, and you no longer have to wear a black hoodie to blend in with the inside of the blind.

The guys at RIG'EM RIGHT® have really thought of everything.

Features:

  • 360 degree views
  • Silent entry and exit
  • High visibility, silent window latches for ease of use in low light situations
  • See through camo mesh windows
  • Easy set up and take down
  • Removable reflectors for easy locating in the dark
  • Brush in straps for adding limbs and vegetation for concealment
  • Heavy duty tent stakes
  • Camo carry bag with full length zipper and 2 backpack straps

What We Like

  • We love the size. It is the biggest blind that we have used, with plenty of room for two hunters and their archery gear.
  • The hinges on this blind are not wound as tight as other hunting blinds, making it super easy to set up and take down.
  • We love the silent entry feature for getting in and out quietly.
  • We love how quiet it is. If you rub up against the fabric, it makes hardly any noise.
  • The access door is huge, making it super easy for even the biggest guy to get in and out
  • We really like the large windows on all three sides, which provide for all different shot angles and all different weapons. Perfect for bowhunting, crossbow or firearm hunting.
  • We like the concept of camo on the inside. No more black holes when you are looking at the blind. It really helps it blend in better and helps you blend in wearing camo on the inside.

What We Don't Like

  • It is expensive
  • Only comes with a 1 year warranty

Here’s a great video showing how easy it is to set up and use the HydeOut XL.

Bigger doesn't always mean better, but in this case, it does. The HydeOut XL is the biggest blind in our roundup and one of the most innovative for archery hunting.

If you are looking for the best archery blind available today, then the Rig’Em Right HydeOut XL is the right hunting blind for you.

Barronett Ox 4 Deer Blind

The Barronett Ox 4 is a great blind for bowhunting with a crossbow or compound bow and is ideal for firearm hunting as well.

RELATED: Best Hunting Crossbow

Barronett Blinds are a step below the Primos ground blinds, but they come with a much more affordable price and share some of the same top of the line features as the Primos blinds.

The Ox 4 has the same footprint as the Double Bulls measuring 60 inches by 60 inches on the inside and is slightly taller with an inside height of 72 inches.

What sets Barronett Blinds apart is the unique 2 layer OxHide™ fabric. It is brushed on the outside which eliminates glare and helps it to blend in with its surroundings. It also has a waterproof polymer backing sandwiched between the two layers of OxHide™. Finally a high quality blind that is waterproof!

Barronett Blinds Reinforced Corner

Features:

  • Silent slide fully adjustable wide windows.
  • 10mm fiberglass poles and aluminum hubs.
  • Included carry bag with shoulder strap, gear pocket and chair holder.
  • Heavy duty ground stakes and high wind tie downs.
  • Durable, waterproof OxHide™ fabric that is brushed camo print on the outside and jet black inside for superior concealment.
  • Ground skirt around entire blind helps keep the wind out when fastened down with the included ground stakes.
  • Perfect for bowhunting in bad weather conditions.
  • Integrated brush holders for adding natural camouflage.
  • Weighs just 26 pounds.

What We Like

  • Plenty of room for two people
  • The first blind we have seen with a chair holder integrated in the carrying bag.
  • We love the jet black interior which makes it very hard for game to see inside the blind.
  • We like the price point. You get a lot of high quality features, including waterproof design at a very reasonable price.
  • Our go-to deer stand in rainy weather.

What We Don't Like

  • The zippered entry door is very loud.
  • While the waterproof fabric is awesome, the seams are not waterproof and they will leak.
  • It is difficult to take down and get back into the bag.

Here's a very thorough Barronett Ox 4 review video.

We didn’t expect a whole lot out of the Barronett Blinds when we first started using them because we liked the Primos so much, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and durability.

The Ox 4 is the best waterproof blind that we have found yet. We don’t believe that you will find a better pop up blind that is waterproof.

Rhino Blinds R180 See Through 3 Person Hunting Blind

If the blinds above gave you sticker shock, you are going to love our top pick for the best blind for the money. It is perfect for hunting deer and bowhunting without breaking the bank.

The Rhino R180 is used by some of our younger deer hunters on our pro staff and they claim it is almost as good as the Primos but for a lot less money.

It is almost as big as the Double Bulls with inside dimensions of 58 inches by 58 inches and a 68 inch height.

Rhino claims it is a 3 person blind, but that is pushing it.

The one way see through mesh gives you a clear 180 degree view of the surroundings and is reinforced at the stress points and triple stitched in the corners.

The Rhino R180 has a window system that is very similar to the Primos with 270 degrees of adjustable shooting windows. All of the windows feature shoot through mesh, although we do not recommend that you shoot through mesh. We have had some bad experiences with some of our staff that shot through the mesh while bowhunting.

It has an oversized, zipperless door in back that makes entering and exiting quickly and quietly with all your gear effortless.

You can see in the photo below that we have a very clear view through the see through fabric with this hunting blind.

See Through Hunting Blind

Features:

  • A 5 hub pop up design with metal hubs and fiberglass rods for superior strength and durability.
  • Includes a carry bag with backpack straps, ground stakes and high wind tie downs.
  • Heavy duty fabric that is reinforced to prevent ripping at critical points.
  • Extra wide, zipperless rear door for easy, silent access to the interior.
  • Available in multiple camouflage patterns.
  • Weather resistant and designed to withstand bad weather conditions.
  • Brush loops on the outside for adding natural camouflage.
  • Shoot through mesh windows.
  • Weighs just 16 pounds including the carry bag.

What We Like

  • The price. This is a feature rich blind for the price.
  • There is plenty of room for 2 or more people and all of their hunting gear.
  • Durable TripleBond fabric provides great protection from the elements.
  • The backpack bag is great for moving the blind from one place to another.

What We Don't Like

  • Velcro on the window shoot through mesh can be noisy.
  • Fiberglass rods are not as heavy duty as the Primos blinds and can break under the weight of snow.
  • The warranty is pretty weak with only a 30 day limited warranty on workmanship.

Here's a great video showing you the features of the Rhino 180.

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. The Rhino R180 is a top blind for bowhunting and deer hunting, but it doesn’t really compare to the Primos hunting blinds.

Best Cheap Blind: Ameristep Caretaker

Ameristep Care Taker

Ameristep blinds have been around for a long time and been a staple for deer hunters for a reason. They provide value without frills and at a fair price.

Ameristep claims that it is big enough for 2 hunters, but we feel that the floor space is too small to be considered a 2 person blind, but it definitely has enough room for one hunter.

It measures 55 inches by 55 inches inside and has an inside height of 60 inches. The small size keeps the weight down at only 13.5 pounds.

It does come with a carrying bag with shoulder strap, ground stakes and tie downs.

Features:

  • The water resistant Durashell™ Plus fabric shell is lightweight.
  • ShadowGuard™ interior coating that helps to eliminate shadows and silhouettes’
  • Spider Hub® pop up blind frame provides durable stability and makes it easy to set up and take down.
  • Includes a carry bag with backpack straps, stakes and tie down ropes.
  • Mossy Oak Breakup camo pattern.
  • Shoot through mesh windows.
  • Available in Mossy Oak Breakup Country and Realtree Xtra Camo.
  • Weighs just 13.5 pounds including the carry bag.

What We Like

  • The price. It is a cheap hunting blind.
  • Ideal one man blind. Not really big enough for 2.
  • Light weight makes it a easy to move to your hunting spot.
  • The dark interior is ideal for concealing all the movement inside.
  • Rugged spider hub frame is really strong.
  • Large windows.

What We Don't Like

  • Quality is not great.
  • Zippered door is loud.
  • Shoot through mesh windows are secured with velcro, which is very noisy.

Here's a video that shows how to set up the Ameristep pop up.

If you are a beginner deer hunter and are looking for a cheap hunting blind, then the Ameristep Caretaker is a great blind for the money, but it doesn’t compare to the best deer blinds above.

Best Portable: GhostBlind Predator

Ghostblind Predator

If you haven’t seen the Ghostblind portable hunting blinds yet, you are going to be amazed when you do!

This blind is very different from most hunting blinds.

What makes this blind so effective?

Mirrors!

Yes, the Ghostblind hunting blinds are portable, lightweight panels that are mirrored on one side. They reflect whatever environment you set them up in and become virtually invisible to the deer or other game.

It doesn’t matter where you are hunting or what season you are hunting, the mirrored panels ensure 100% concealment all of the time.

Ghostblind review facts

The panels tilt forward so that they do not reflect the sky, only what is right in front of them. The deer or other game would have to be within 6 feet in order to see itself.

This is the one blind that does not have to be set up before the hunting season. You can actually use this blind for run and gun hunting making it an ideal portable blind for public land.

Want to be amazed? Watch this Ghostblind review video!

Its lightweight and extreme portability make it easy to take in and out of the woods with you every time you use it.

Weighing in at only 12 pounds and with a carry strap, you can carry it for miles on public land without getting tired.

One thing we should mention here is that these are mirrored panels and there is no top on this blind. Also, the panels are too low and we only use them with the extenders to make it high enough for complete concealment, where your head is not sticking up over the panels.

There are shoot through gun ports in the panels and you shoot your bow, crossbow or rifle from a seated position.

Features:

  • Mirrored design matches any surrounding for unbelievably realistic concealment.
  • Sturdy, weatherproof and shatterproof for years of use.
  • Quick, easy set up with ground stakes, tie downs and bungee cords included.
  • Lightweight and portable for carrying deep into the woods.
  • Made of lightweight plastic.
  • Easy setup.
  • Weighs just 12 pounds.

What We Like

  • The camouflage is jaw dropping. It is unlike anything that you have ever seen and it works incredibly well on a deer or turkey hunt.
  • Ideal one man blind.
  • Perfect for bow hunting, crossbow or firearm hunting.
  • Light weight makes it a great portable blind for public land.
  • It folds up like an accordion. You can have it packed up and moving in seconds.
  • Easy to maintain. Just hose it off and store inside during the offseason.

What We Don't Like

  • It is not high enough without the extenders. We have been spotted when raising up a rangefinder to effectively range the deer.
  • No protection from the elements.

The Ghostblind Predator is in a different class when it comes to camouflage. The first time that you see this thing, you are going to say; Wow!

We have guys on staff that like to do hang and hunts on public land, where they take their tree stand deep into the woods, hang the stand and hunt the same day.

Some of these guys are now doing the same thing with their Ghostblind and having incredible success using proven deer stand placement strategies.

If you are looking for a portable hunting blind, then the Ghostblind Predator is your best choice.

Best One Man(Pop Up): Ameristep Tent Chair

Ameristep Tent Chair Pop Up Ground Blind

The Tent Chair is a pop up hunting blind and folding chair incorporated into one.

It is a smaller pop up measuring 52 inches by  61 inches by 60 inches and 60 inches high, weighing in at 13 pounds.

This is a great one man blind for crossbow hunting or gun hunting, but we wouldn’t recommend it for bow hunting. There is just not enough room inside to maneuver and draw a bow.

The included chair is not the best, but it is a typical camp chair. We recommend bringing a seat cushion with you if you are going to sit for more than a couple of hours.

While this pop up deer blind does have 3 windows, the two side windows are too high and you can only shoot out the front window.

Let’s take a look at the features:

Features:

  • Pop up blind and chair in one.
  • Simple pop up design sets up in less than a minute.
  • Water resistant Durashell™ Plus fabric with matte finish and sprayed on the inside with ShadowGuard™ coating.
  • Lightweight and portable.
  • Convenient carrying case with shoulder strap.
  • No assembly required.
  • Folding chair has a 300 pound weight capacity.
  • Weighs just 13 pounds.

What We Like

  • All inclusive pop up blind with chair.
  • Great one man blind for crossbow or rifle hunters.
  • Fast, easy set up and takedown.
  • It really holds the heat in on cold days.

What We Don't Like

  • Very small shooting width.
  • There is no camo mesh in the windows.
  • Chair could be more comfortable.

Here's a video showing you all of the features of the Tent Chair Blind.

I personally am not a fan of this blind, but we have staff members that successfully hut deer with a firearm out of these every year.

Final Thoughts

Our staff of hunters have spent countless hours in all of these hunting blinds and have rated and reviewed them based on their experiences so that you can have the knowledge to make the right decision as to what is the best blind for you, or for your favorite hunter if you are giving one as a gift.

We are completely confident that the Primos Double Bull Deluxe is the best deer blind that you can buy, however you can buy any of the best hunting blinds with confidence, knowing that they have been tested and confirmed to be the best in each category.

Most of these blinds should be set up well before the hunting season so that deer become accustomed to your blind's presence and the deer feel comfortable coming out during the day.

You should also camouflage them by brushing in. That means to set the blind up where you can surround it with native brush and natural cover to further hide it from deer.

Only the biggest hunting blinds are appropriate for use with a recurve bow, due to the long length of a recurve. Blinds are much better suited to compound bows.

Hunting from deer blinds has many advantages over tree stands, including hiding the hunter, muffling sounds and even reducing a hunter's scent. (2)

You don't have to worry about being seen when you raise your binoculars up to your eyes to scan the area, or when you are drawing your compound bow back to take an accurate shot.

Please be sure to use your ground blinds safely and enjoy the outdoors.(3)
