I have notoriously cold feet, so I have been wearing heated socks ever since they first came out. Over the years, it became very clear which socks kept my toes warm and which ones didn't.
I also reached out to all of our staff members and asked for their favorites. Then I reached out to our readers, through our extensive email list and asked them what their favorite heated socks were.
Now that I had a list of all of the socks to be tested, I acquired them from manufacturers and retail outlets. I then tested and rated them on the following criteria:

These are an awesome pair of heated socks for hunting. They performed the best in our testing. I wore these for the first time on a late season deer hunt in Iowa. The temperature was in the single digits and my feet stayed toasty warm.
They are more expensive than most heated socks, but if you can afford them, they are worth it.
The Gerbing 7V Heated Wool Socks come with rechargeable 2,200 mAh rechargeable lithium ion batteries batteries and come with a dual charger.
Located on the battery pack are three different heating settings for you to adjust the temperature as you see fit, and to add more bang for your buck, low(100 degrees), medium(120 degrees) and high(140 degrees)

Testing the battery, we’ve found that a 7 hour period to be the lifespan you’d get out of the battery on low heat, while high heat only lasted 3 hours before you’d have to charge it.
I like to start these socks on high and when they are good and warm, switch to the low setting.
The material of the sock sits at 32 percent wool, 31 percent nylon, 20 percent acrylic, 12 percent polyester, 3 percent spandex, and 2 percent rubber with a 2 layer cuff design to provide additional support for the battery pack and heat retention.
For the comfort factor, there’s reinforced padding at the heel and toe area, heating elements are under the whole foot and wrap around to cover the toes.

We have members of our staff that absolutely love these socks, so we picked up a pair for testing and compared them to the others that we have tested.
They performed very well and I was impressed with the quality and I love the fact that they are 50% wool. That is the highest percentage wool of any sock we have tested.
They have three different levels of heating. Low(100 degrees), Medium(130 degrees) and high(150 degrees), making them the warmest or highest temperature sock we tested.
The only downside that we found with these socks during testing was battery life. The batteries only lasted 5 hours on low, 4 hours on medium and around 2.5 hours on high. That being said, the wool construction holds the heat better than most other socks.
The socks Include 5V lithium-polymer rechargeable batteries as opposed to lithium- ion and 24" dual-battery charger.

At the end of the day, you can't beat wool socks and these socks have the highest concentration of wool out of all the socks we tested.
The battery life could be better, but it is still pretty good, and the comfort is spot on.

When it comes to batteries, we found that these socks come with a different type of batteries from the ones we’ve mentioned on this list.
Instead of the regular 3.7V’s, these socks come with a pair of RCB 1200 lithium ion batteries.
They come with 3 adjustable heating settings, as per the standard.
A unique trait about these socks is not only are they adjustable via the battery pack, but they are also able to be tinkered with through an app on your smartphone device via Bluetooth. These socks come with two 2600 mAh 7.4V lithium ion batteries, and a remote controller for them.
It only takes around 4 hours at most to charge them, giving you up to 11 hours per full charge.
In the material department, these socks were created with a select mixture of cotton, acrylic, nylon, and spandex, woven in a way to give the socks 3mm of thickness. We found that these were best worn with loose footwear due to the thickness.
Comfort wise, the material and thickness make for a smooth wear. They are especially comfortable for the hunter that needs help with circulation, thanks to the heating elements.

We have hunters on our staff that swear by these heated socks and won't use any others when the temperature drops.
Coming out the gate, they come with two rechargeable 7.4V 2200MAH lithium polymer batteries, which we found to be very useful. Not only do you get two batteries that can be reused, you get a pretty good battery life as well.
Put it on the charger, and around 3-4 hours it will be fully charged. Once fully charged, you can expect it to last up to six hours on low heat before needing to recharge.

Some hunters on our staff use these to keep their feet warm on even the coldest winter days, so we wanted to include them as an option.
These are unique, being the only warmers on the list that don’t come with batteries at all.
They’re single use warmers that you take out the pack, shake to activate, and slip them into your footwear of choice.
They don’t heat up as quick as the other battery-powered warmers on this list, taking 15-30 minutes to fully heat up after shaking them. But once they do, you’ve got up to nine hours of heated insoles.

Buying heated socks can be an expensive investment. Let's take a look at some of the things you should keep in mind when choosing heated socks.
Socks or Insoles?
Yes, you came here looking for heated socks, but after years of testing and use, we feel that you may want to consider heated insoles.
Heated socks are great, but they have some drawbacks.
One of the main drawbacks is washability. Cleaning them requires extra steps, like removing the batteries and putting them in a mesh bag.
Some socks even require hand washing only.
With insoles, they simply go in your boots and you can wear your favorite hunting socks. You can even move the insoles between boots.
At the end of the day, the choice is yours, but most of our hunters on staff choose heated insoles over heated socks.
Battery Life
The only thing worse than starting a hunt with cold feet is ending a hunt with cold feet because your batteries died.
